Cold Beginnings, Warm Endings is a three-four minute short animation that takes place in a village in a fictional setting, inspired by the Nordic countries in Europe. It centers around an energetic boy named Tovio, who tries to befriend Aino, a shy village girl, by riding the villagers’ reindeer. My film is a 2D animation that has been made digitally using programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After effects. I used a rough pencil tool to create a rougher and natural line to the animation.
The music was inspired by folk songs made in Nordic countries. The sound design was made in Adobe Audition, using a variety of ambiance of natural sounds. This short can be enjoyed by all ages.

In the spring semester of my junior year in college, I took an animation class. The requirement for that class was to create 3 short films by the end of the semester. So that meant only around 3 weeks to complete each film. Even though I was stressed out during that time, I had a fun time making these films. Now looking back on my work I can see where I have improved and where I can still improve upon.
